“Self-supporting trailer.” “Self-supporting trailer” means a trailer, other than a pole trailer, designed so that no part of the weight of the trailer or the weight of any load on the trailer rests upon the towing vehicle. The definition in this section is based on design and, except as otherwise provided in this section, does not prohibit a self-supporting trailer from fitting into another category of trailer based on use.
