Governmental agency paying wages responsible for providing coverage
Except as otherwise provided in ORS 656.029 (Obligation of person awarding contract to provide coverage for workers under contract) to 656.033 (Coverage for participants in work experience or school directed professional training programs) and 656.041 (City or county may elect to provide coverage for jail inmates), but notwithstanding any other provision of law, the state or any city, county, district, or agency thereof, that pays the wages of a subject worker is responsible for providing workers’ compensation insurance coverage for that worker.
