Alternatives to secrecy envelope procedures
(1) Notwithstanding any provision of ORS 254.470 (Procedures for conducting election by mail):
(a) A county clerk may apply to the Secretary of State for approval of any procedure to be used in lieu of the envelope procedures described in ORS 254.470 (Procedures for conducting election by mail); and
(b) Upon receiving an application under subsection (1) of this section, the secretary may approve a procedure to be used in lieu of the envelope procedures described in ORS 254.470 (Procedures for conducting election by mail) if the secretary determines that the procedure will provide substantially the same degree of secrecy as ORS 254.470 (Procedures for conducting election by mail).
(2) A procedure approved by the secretary under this section must comply with the prohibitions set forth in ORS 254.470 (Procedures for conducting election by mail) (11). [1995 c.607 §84; 2007 c.154 §39; 2019 c.508 §5]
