Second Oregon Veterans’ Home

The Director of Veterans’ Affairs shall enter into a contract with a nongovernmental entity for the operation and management of the second Oregon Veterans’ Home authorized by section 1, chapter 591, Oregon Laws 1995. The entity with whom the director contracts under this section shall be a person experienced in the operation and staffing of long term care facilities, as defined in ORS 442.015 (Definitions). The contract executed under this section shall be subject to the requirements of ORS chapters 279A and 279B, except ORS 279A.140 (State procurement of goods and services) and 279B.235 (Condition concerning hours of labor), and shall provide that:
(1) The party who contracts to manage and operate the second Oregon Veterans’ Home shall be responsible for hiring and maintaining the necessary staff for the facility.
(2) The Director of Veterans’ Affairs shall assign not more than one state employee on a full-time basis to provide oversight of the management of the facility.
(3) The second Oregon Veterans’ Home shall admit only patients who are veterans, as defined in ORS 408.225 (Definitions for ORS 408.225 to 408.235), or the spouses of veterans. [1995 c.591 §4; 2003 c.794 §274; 2007 c.668 §1]
