guardian

    A person who holds the lawful power and duty to care for the person, property, and rights of another individual considered incapable by reason of age, understanding, or self-control.

    "Guardian" means a person appointed by a court to make decisions regarding the support, care, education, health or welfare of an individual. "Guardian" does not include a guardian ad litem.
